5-Day No-Prep Sub Plan — Marine Science

Five days of substitute-ready marine science for high school, built for the day the covering teacher is not a science teacher. Nothing here asks them to teach it. Each day is an original nonfiction reading with every comprehension answer in the reading, then a page that checks its own answers, and a run sheet tells the substitute what to hand out. The five days follow a general high school marine science course: seawater and the ocean's layers; currents, waves and tides; life from the sunlit surface to the deep; coral reefs and coastal ecosystems; and how people affect the ocean. It is not tied to one exam syllabus, so it fits a marine science or marine biology class, an oceanography unit, or an environmental science class. You come back to a complete set of answer keys and a class that kept working. For a film day afterward, it pairs with our video worksheet bundles for the BBC's The Blue Planet and Blue Planet II.

  • Sub & Teacher Notes cover sheet — what to hand out each day

  • 5 self-checking worksheet sets (one per day, 68 questions total) + 5 answer keys

  • 17-page PDF: print pages 1-11 for the student set; answer keys at the back

  • Each day is standalone — no prior lesson needed; run the days in any order

  • Marine Science, grades 9-12; tagged Emergency Sub Plans + First Week of School
